Become a bereavement volunteer

Grief can be one of the loneliest journeys a person faces. Our bereavement volunteers offer people who are grieving a compassionate, steady presence that reminds them that they are not alone. If you feel you could offer support to others who are grieving, training to become a bereavement volunteer for Cruse could be the start of something truly meaningful, both for you and for the people you can help.

You don't need any prior experience. What matters is empathy, a willingness to listen, and the time and heart to show up for others. Our training course will give you everything you need to volunteer with confidence:

  • Fully supported training from experienced Cruse bereavement volunteers and trainers
  • Flexible commitment options to fit around your life
  • Ongoing supervision and a welcoming volunteer community
  • Open to people of all backgrounds and experiences

We try to run training courses for new bereavement volunteers every 1-2 years. Our next course which begins in October 2026 is fully booked and we expect our next course to begin in 2028. If you would like us contact you when we have more information about the next training course, please let us know by emailing info@cruse.org.im.
