Grief can be one of the loneliest journeys a person faces. Our bereavement volunteers offer people who are grieving a compassionate, steady presence that reminds them that they are not alone. If you feel you could offer support to others who are grieving, training to become a bereavement volunteer for Cruse could be the start of something truly meaningful, both for you and for the people you can help.
No prior experience is needed. What matters most is empathy, a willingness to listen, and the time and heart to show up for others. Our training course will give you everything you need to volunteer with confidence:
- Fully supported training from experienced Cruse bereavement volunteers and trainers
- Flexible commitment options to fit around your life
- Ongoing supervision and a welcoming volunteer community
- Open to people of all backgrounds and experiences
Our next training course begins in October 2026.
If you're thinking about volunteering, we're holding an information morning on Saturday 11 April. If you'd like to come along to this, please book your place.
Full training details, dates, and eligibility criteria are available on our volunteer information page.
