Bereavement Volunteers

If you would like to train to become a bereavement volunteer with Cruse, our next training course starts in October 2026.

Everybody who works with Cruse clients needs to first complete the Bereavement Support Foundation course, which has been endorsed and quality checked by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. The course aims to develop the skills and abilities of those who wish to support bereaved people through volunteering with Cruse.

The course lasts for about three months, held on seven full-day Saturdays, with the last training day being held in January 2027.

Further mandatory and elective courses are also available. If eligible, you may choose to go on to work with children and young people.
